hair today, gone tomorrow?

So, one of the changes I look forward to making this year is my hair. I think i'm going to chop it all off. The thought of doing this makes me want to cry, but thinking about how cute a bob would be excites me.
I was flipping through my January Anthropologie catalog and I died over the model's hair. I'm obsessed.

I'm going to Paris this March and I think a haircut like this would be tres chic!! (especially since i bought that adorable bottom dress with the airplanes) But I'm not sure if this look is too short for me. I was thinking of something more like this:

I haven't quite decided. I'm going to wait for it to stop getting cold to make the cut (and yes, it is freezing, even in Florida).

2010!!!!!!!!

So We took a little hiatus from blogging, we know. Mainly because the holidays are my absolute most favorite time of year and all coordinating activities, parties, baking, and shopping take up every second of my time and attention. BUT, we are back. It is 2010. And some pretty awesome stuff has happened so far.
I was in a dance show on New Years Eve downtown. Salutations from the jester.

Cristina went on a cruise with her familia. So jealous. Apparently there were toga parties on this cruise.

I saw Lady Gaga in concert last night and was blown away by her performance/costumes. I guess when you go to so many concerts featuring lip synching pop stars its pretty impressive when someone actually sings. and dances. and hangs on a line by her hair; all of which were done by Gaga.

All these things have been happening and more. I have been giving a lot of thought to my New Year's Resolution, which typically i try to stay away from making because they never end up happening. BUT. I think I managed to think of one that isn't a complete load of crap. For starters, i'm not going to call it a resolution, for i'm not really trying to resolve anything. I suppose its more of a New Year's Enlightenment. I'm going to call 2010 the Year of Knowledge. The Year of Learning. There is so much I want to learn about and do this year. This is mostly stemming from the fact that the New Year has reminded me of how quickly time passes, and I haven't even begun to know all that I want to. I want to read more books that don't have the words "cupcakes" or "decorating" in the title (although I'm sure I'll probably read plenty of those too). I want to go back to the piano, which I quit after 11 years. I want to completely immerse myself in my new major (art history, my 3rd major now, but who's counting? Third times a charm.) I just want to learn an endless amount of things. "I dwell in possibility" to quote little miss Emily Dickinson.

And one final word. Before Christmas break we said goodbye to our wonderful, talented, beautiful best friend Alexandra Barron. She is going off to the big city to pursue her art career and we couldn't be more proud. Live it up Alex. You're amazing. See you for Shark Week (our favorite week of the year due to the fact that all 3 of our birthdays fall on this amazing week of shark infested television)

Victoria's Secret fashion show!

This balloon train was awesome!

So last night Cristina and I watched the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show! Last year we watched the fashion show and then went to the gym immediately after (for all of 10 minutes, but hey, motivation comes in increments for us). This year we decided we like food too much to ever be on the same level of amazingness as the models. Oh well......we'll try again next year.

When binging is acceptable....

WE LOVE THANKSGIVING!!

Actually we love food in general, so loving Thanksgiving is a given.

Gabi's Thanksgiving:

I cook most of Thanksgiving dinner by myself every year....I like to think of myself as a domestic goddess. My favorite recipe this year: Sweet Potato Gnocchi! Courtesy of Everyday Italian.
Things I'm thankful for:
1) cardigans- my favorite closet staple
2)food network- thank you for constituting 98% of my tivo
3) my 2 fabulous sisters, 7 nieces and nephews, supportive parents, and the greatest friends ever
4) pumpkin scones- you light up my life in the winter.
4) last but not least, I am thankful for not having lost my apartment keys yet this month.

Just a fraction of my silly family

Cristina's Thanksgiving:

2.5 meals down.

Weight gain count: 4 pounds!

When asked what I am thankful for I said “not failing school.” Here is a more in-depth list:

-My wonderful boyfriend Kevin and our 5 month anniversary. Love him!

-My family that welcomes me home quite often when I just need my own bed and encouraging words.

-The generous folks on my school’s admissions board for pretty much paying me to go here. I will never forget you, whoever you are.

-My sweet and caring far away friends who I miss all the time.

SALUTATIONS!!

Gabi & Cristina

We are writing to you from the middle of our sophomore year at the lovely (and extremely stressful) University of Miami. Looks can be deceiving (see below). Hoping to earn degrees in Advertising, Art, and Art History and continue on to prestigious graduate programs, we welcome any interruptions from rich doctors who would like to support us for life or magicians who could turn us into Penelope Cruz and Natalie Portman. Until then, stay tuned! Follow us as we make it through, or, you know…die along the way.
